Filter Media for Plating Tanks & Wastewater

Next to regular sample analysis of your tank’s contents, filtration is the smartest thing a surface finisher can do to deliver a high-quality coating to metal parts. A Brite Company offers a full line of filtration equipment, filter tubes and chemical plating products to help you run your in-tank filter systems efficiently. We also have a large inventory of wastewater filter media.

Knowing the size of the contaminate you are trying to filter will go a long way to narrowing down your options when selecting the right filter media. We sell 1 micron through 300 micron filter bags in polypropylene. Many of our nickel plating partners purchase poly wound filter tubes.

Some important reference points are: The approximate size of bacteria is 2 microns, human hair is 50 microns, and coarse sand would be 500 microns. Therefore, it makes sense that the larger the micron size of your filter, the more likely it is that something will pass through it; and the smaller the micron size of your filter the less likely it is that something will pass through it. Hammering the point further if I am trying to filter out sand, I need a filter bag that has a micron rating smaller number than 500, if I am trying to filter out human hair the micron rating would need to be smaller than 50 microns.

For most plating solutions a filter with a micron rating of 5-10 will work just fine.  A micron rating of 20-100 microns will work for most wastewater applications.

Filter Tubes, Cartridges & Media

Filtration Equipment We Offer

In Tank Filter Cartridges

We offer a full line of filtration system products. We offer in-tank filter systems such as filter bags, filter tubes, and specialty filter chambers. In addition, our wastewater specialist can help to order replacement filter press cloths and parts.

Filter bags are typically sold with a rigid, internal metal or plastic ring around the opening to make them easier to install. Bags may also be purchased with carbon filling.

When used in a plating bath, anode bags or basket bags are used to prevent small metal fines and impurities that may develop from entering the bath. These are sometimes referred to as flat bags. They are installed over the anode basket and fastened with a drawstring.

Filter tubes are porous cylindrical-shaped cartridges. These tubes can be used in conjunction with a pump or chamber and come in a variety of lengths and micron sizes as well as finishes. Depending on your equipment they are easy to replace and are truly inexpensive.

Filter media, (discs, paper, and clothes) are typically used in wastewater treatment processes. This is an area that A Brite company specializes in, and we are pleased to offer a variety of options.
